Feature: Robbin Parcker & Paulina van Schaik – Drool Accessories
Unique products, hand made designs, remarkable branding and a well put package every time a drool accessory is sold. How did the two of you meet and get Drool underway?
We actually have been kind of inseparable for the last three years, we worked together at a digital agency, we both left that job at the same time for new opportunities and I (Paulina) ended up working at the agency Robbin was at. The new spot was a creative agency for cannabis and alcohol brands and we would find ourselves looking for cannabis accessories that were accessible for photoshoots and cute enough to elevate our content.
We started to search for Canadian artists and the sourcing of products, there was a middle man we would gladly leave out and when we finally came up with a name and idea, the company arrived and the next thing we knew we had a spreadsheet of products and a vision for the brand. We both know the importance of a brand personality and Drool truly is a byproduct of our personal styles; being authentic is crucial to Drool.
With Drool being conceived during COVID-19, how has the pandemic impacted your business? Did it hinder your launch in anyway?
Covid actually gave us the time we needed to focus on the business, we took our time with the branding and made sure every detail was perfect before hitting the start button. We went live on April 20, 2021 (420 baby) and us being fully online received a great response. The unfortunate side was that we had so many plans to do a launch party and pop-ups around the city but are still holding off until we know for sure we can make it great. We really missed the opportunity to connect 1-on-1 with our audience and interact with people face to face.
Since you’re always working with new and exciting artists from around Canada, who are you working with in the near future and what new releases can you tell us about?
We are working on another upcoming collab with Stranger Studio, Molly (the owner) is an absolute dream to work with and we are currently testing a new product that will be “utterly” fantastic. We don’t want to give too much away but it’s something that will be perfect if you don’t have time for two hits.
How has cannabis influenced your life and do your support the legal industry?
Cannabis has always been near and dear to our hearts, with legalization finding strains and understanding what we’re consuming has really helped when sourcing with intention. We’ve personally experienced the benefits of cannabis with mental health specifically and how it pertains to the female body. With the aid of anxiety symptoms and pain management, the accessibility and transparency of cannabis has really made alternative treatment options readily available.
What are you using right now?
Our favourite flowers at the moment are Shred Gnarberry, absolutely anything from Carmel and Pedro’s Sweet Sativa. We’re also enjoying the Strawberry Wana 10:1 and Pomegranate 5:1
