Rolling Round Up : Monthly Series
Welcome, cannabis curious and veteran smoker alike, to the Rolling Roundup!
Here we’ll introduce you to new and beloved strains available now, and give you the lowdown on how to best bring them into your rotation. Cannabis can bring a nearly infinite number of different experiences; every strain is unique, and no one experiences them exactly the same way. That much variety can get pretty overwhelming! Here at the Roundup, we want to make finding the perfect strain for your dream session simple and fun, no matter what experience you’re looking for. Whether we help you find a new favourite or make you think of an old one in a new way, the Rolling Roundup is here for the cannabis lover in all of us.
Indica
For our first Roundup, we’re featuring a personal favorite: French Macaron by Jonny Chronic. French Macaron is craft-certified indica strain, with a delightfully sweet baked good flavour. I have to admit that I’m a sucker for dessert strains, and French Macaron is to blame for it with its killer lineage of Gelato #33 and French Cookies. One of its dominant terpenes is Nerolidol: an uncommon terpene also found in jasmine, lavender, and lemongrass. Unique, delicious, and beautifully crafted, French Macaron has it all!
One wouldn’t think that an indica strain could be good for socializing, but in this case I disagree. French Macaron is wonderfully warm and cozy, but is not so heavy that you’ll want to hibernate. It also brings a delightful feeling of euphoria that I’m personally always hunting for. This strain is perfect for comfy get-togethers with friends, and with the holidays upon us it’s even better paired with cheesy movies and seasonal treats to share. The next time you’re looking for that warm fuzzy feeling only a good dessert can bring, give French Macaron a try!

Sativa
Our sativa pick for this Roundup is likely one of the most beloved strains on the market since the legal cannabis market began: Animal Face by Carmel. Bred by Seed Junky Genetics, this powerhouse Face Off OG and Animal Mints cross has been the crown jewel of the Carmel brand since it’s release. Animal Face is enticingly fragrant with notes of lemon and cake, with its alluring cocktail of dominant terpenes being Limonene, Myrcene, Linalool, and Caryophyllene. On top of all that, Carmel has really outdone themselves with their newest batch of Animal Face, which boasts impressively high THC and terpene percentages. This strain is absolutely worth the hype!
As a long-time devotee to indica strains, I was surprised to find how much I fell in love with Animal Face. Despite being a high potency sativa strain, I have never found that it made me anxious; in fact, I find it very uplifting and euphoric. I can always count on it to give me the gentle boost I need to do some light cleaning around the house, as it helps me focus without becoming too overwhelming. It’s also an ideal social strain, as it keeps conversation light, bubbly, and flowing. If you are a strictly indica smoker like I was, Animal Face is the perfect introduction to the bright potential a well-crafted sativa strain can bring to your rotation.

Hybrid
My newest hybrid obsession is easily Greybeard’s absolute powerhouse of a fan-favorite strain, Afghani Drifter. Boasting Afghani landrace roots, Afghani Drifter gracefully rides the line between indica and sativa experiences. Its scent is delightfully funky, with notes of pepper, musk, and earth. Its dominant terpenes of Myrcene, Caryophyllene, and Limonene play beautifully together to produce an engaging, relaxed session.
Afghani Drifter falls into my favourite category of hybrid strains; ones that have a strong relaxation effect on the body, but keep the mind engaged and active. This makes this strain ideal for artists and music lovers, as it allows you to feel completely immersed in your creative process. After smoking this strain, I found myself humming along to my favourite songs all evening! It did however give me a wicked bout of the munchies, so perhaps avoid partaking if you want to keep your new year’s resolutions. Unless your resolution is to experience more good food, then Afghani Drifter is perfect for bringing your culinary experiences to the next level! Afghani Drifter is a wonderfully versatile craft strain, and a permanent addition to my rotation!
